A straighter smile in about six months.

We are a general dental practice for adults: unhurried cleanings and fillings, and, when you are ready, cosmetic orthodontics by Dr. Clifton Georgaklis, who originated the six-month braces technique here in Brookline. Ninety percent of adult cases are finished in six months, and every appointment is a full hour with the doctor.

An honest timeline

Most adult smiles need months, not years.

Conventional orthodontics often spends one to two years perfecting the back-teeth bite into a prescribed pattern. When your bite is already functional, Dr. Georgaklis leaves it largely alone and concentrates on the teeth you see, moving them small distances, carefully and quickly.

Six months in our careOne to two years conventionally

Shorter treatment also costs less here, typically 10 to 20% below a conventional one-to-two-year case, and removable retainers are included free. Most offices charge $500 extra for them.

The practice

What care looks like, from first visit to finished smile.

Everything happens in one office, with one doctor, at a pace set by your comfort, never by a schedule of fifty patients a day.

01

A conversation, not a commitment

Your consultation is free. Dr. Georgaklis examines your case himself and lays out genuine alternatives, metal, clear, or invisible braces, each with its own timeline and price, so you can decide in your own time.

02

Health before cosmetics

A beautiful smile rests on healthy teeth and gums. As a general dental practice we take care of cleanings and fillings first, so orthodontic work begins on a sound foundation.

03

Braces on

Brackets are bonded to the front of the teeth, or behind them if you choose invisible lingual braces. Where space is tight, light sanding between teeth, or occasionally removing a tooth, creates the room teeth need to move.

04

A full hour, every visit

Because the practice sees 8 to 12 patients a day instead of 50 to 100, your appointment is an hour with Dr. Georgaklis rather than minutes with an assistant. More accomplished per visit is a large part of why six months is possible.

05

The finish, and keeping it

Tooth and gum sculpting, reshaping, and bleaching complete the smile the way a cosmetic dentist would. Removable retainers are included free, and splinting behind the teeth can hold the result with nothing to wear at all.

Your options

Three routes to the same six-month finish.

You will hear alternatives here, not pressure. Choose on budget, schedule, and how visible you want treatment to be.

Clear braces

Tooth-colored brackets on the front of the teeth, the choice of most adults. Barely noticeable across a table, and the most direct route to a finished front smile.

From $4,500

Nothing shows

Invisible braces, behind the teeth

Lingual braces bonded to the tongue side of the teeth, visible only if you tilt your head back. They offer more control and faster movement than aligner trays. Most patients choose invisible uppers with ceramic lowers.

$6,000-$9,500

Metal braces

The most economical option and the most efficient for difficult movement. The timeline is the same, six months is six months either way.

From $4,500

Smile design

The result is planned like cosmetic dentistry, proportion, symmetry, and the line of the smile, not alignment alone.

Tooth & gum sculpting

Uneven or misshapen teeth and an irregular gumline can be refined in the same practice, by the same doctor.

The no-retainer option

Splinting connects the backs of the teeth, uppers included, so the result holds with nothing removable to wear.

Retainers included free

Removable retainers come with treatment at no charge. Most offices bill $500 extra for them.

Your doctor

Dr. Clifton Georgaklis

A Brookline native, Dr. Georgaklis was educated at Yale and at the University of Connecticut Dental School, where he graduated at the top of his class with a perfect score on all four clinical sections of his board examination. In 1991 he founded Cleveland Circle Dental Associates in Brookline, where he still practices today.

He originated the six-month braces technique and published it in Dentistry Today in 1999, an approach that went on to inspire offshoots such as “Six Month Smiles” and Fastbraces. He lectures to dentists and orthodontists across the United States and Europe, has been featured on Channel 7 News, and counts well-known dentists among his own orthodontic patients.

What patients notice first, though, is the pace: a small practice, hour-long appointments, and a doctor who approaches the finished smile the way a cosmetic dentist does, with sculpting, reshaping, and bleaching available in the same chair.

Dr. Gordon Christensen, dental researcher and evaluator

“I congratulate you for your innovative and thoughtful approach to the subject. I feel certain that many more people would have orthodontic therapy if it could be simplified and made more acceptable to them as adults… You are doing a great service to educate those who have interest.”

Questions

Asked often, answered plainly.

Can I come to you for ordinary dentistry, cleanings and fillings?

Yes. Cleveland Circle Dental Associates is a general dental practice first. Routine cleanings, fillings, and ongoing dental health are the foundation of everything else we do, including any cosmetic or orthodontic work you may consider later.

What does treatment cost compared with conventional braces?

Equal to or less, typically 10 to 20% below a conventional one-to-two-year case. Clear and metal braces start at $4,500; invisible lingual braces behind the teeth run $6,000 to $9,500. Removable retainers are included free, while most offices charge $500 extra for them.

Why do appointments here take a full hour?

Because the practice is deliberately small. Dr. Georgaklis sees 8 to 12 patients a day, a typical orthodontic office sees 50 to 100, so your time is spent with the doctor, not an assistant, and nothing about your care is rushed.

How can braces finish in six months when I was told one to two years?

Conventional treatment often spends much of its time perfecting the molar bite into a prescribed pattern. When your bite is functional and presents no problem, Dr. Georgaklis modifies it little or not at all, and concentrates on the teeth you see, moving them small distances. Hour-long appointments mean more is accomplished at every visit. Patients often find the finished bite more comfortable, with less wear, less food trapping, and fewer gum problems.

Will I have to wear a retainer afterward?

Removable retainers are included with treatment at no charge. For teeth that were very crowded or far out of position, there is also a no-retainer option: splinting connects the backs of the teeth, uppers included, so they hold their position with nothing to wear.

What can be done beyond straightening?

Quite a bit. Tooth and gum sculpting, reshaping, and bleaching are all done here, and the smile is designed as a whole rather than aligned in isolation, the cosmetic finishing that turns straight teeth into a finished smile.
